But I did not realize why Tyler didn't become a Middleman until now – he doesn't have alliteration! Grillo-Marxuach: Yeah, if he was Tyler Taylor, then maybe! IGN: The obvious way to go with the Middleman and Wendy would have been to have romantic chemistry and a "Will they or Won't they?" thing. IGN: What did you think of the big revelations – including the Middleman's name? Keeslar: Well, I knew the character's name at the pilot. Grillo-Marxuach: Well, it was in an outline form, that I'd actually distributed to everybody. So I think that's really the best kind of way to close it, to just say, "You know what? We could come back, if the support is there and all that, but at the same time, here's a complete story." IGN: Matt and Natalie, had you guys been able to read this script before production stopped on the series? Morales: No, more like six months ago. Knowing what we knew, it would have been really cruel to leave the audience on a cliffhanger, because how would we bring it back? And I think that this finale, again, it dots the Ts and crosses the Is – I got it wrong on purpose! – but it doesn't say there can be no more.

We certainly hoped that we wouldn't have to, but by the time that we got to the twelfth episode, we knew that we had to do a finale that could stand as a finale – if not for the series, then at least to give answers. IGN: Javier, when you wrote this script originally, was it as much of a solid ending, wrapping up so many questions, as we saw today? Grillo-Marxuach: Our ratings told a story that we knew was leading us to a place where we might consider putting a nice period on the end of a sentence. It was a little bit like Natalie said – bittersweet to say goodbye to the characters, but nice to have a good send off. I don't think I've ever been to an audience quite that responsive, ever, in any performance I've ever done. IGN: Matt, what was it like to say the line, "Sweet crispy wontons!" and hear the audience explode cheering? Matt Keeslar: Well, that was a pretty amazing reception. So for me, it was really wonderful to watch the cast be so nicely received by everybody and for them to get that rock star feeling that you get when you come to Comic-Con.

And the most rewarding thing for me was that the whole cast got to be here to enjoy that warm reception that we got last year and which has only grown with the series and the comic books and the DVDs. And they were here at separate times, and because of the exploding beef truck, only Matt and I made it down for the first panel.

Javier Grillo-Marxuach: Matt and Natalie were the only members of the cast who got to come to Comic-Con last year. Let's do something happy!" because it was sad at the end, but it was great. At the end, I got really choked up and I was like, "Okay, we're done now. So it was really awesome and at the same time bittersweet. I didn't know that they weren't going to fit in the room – that people were told to leave, which is crazy! And everybody was so great and so responsive. I didn't know that so many people were going to show up. I didn't know the room was going to be that big. IGN: What was it like seeing the huge reaction the table read got at that panel? Natalie Morales: That was amazing.
