These have been oriented for use when accessing the bag on its side. The laptop compartment has a lot of little organizing slots, including a document slot. a lot of inefficient shuffling and feeling with my hands before resorting to looking with my eyes. But because everything sinks, I have trouble finding the specific pen/pencil/tool I need without looking, i.e. Currently I store pens/other small and loose items in the quick access pocket’s internal mesh pocket. This is something I strongly wish Minaal adds in future iterations 😉. But the tradeoff is that it can’t be used to store essentials for quick access, and so I end up not putting anything in it for work/office use.Ī notable omission is pen holders. Now the bottom interior pocket in the main compartment is a great size and I love the fact that it’s hidden. Also, I’ve come to learn to avoid putting denser objects like a battery pack in this pocket because once it is carrying some weight, opening the main compartment even only a little bit causes the front flap to immediately flop over, and my hand now has to support it. It’s own internal mesh pocket helps provide some separation of contents, but everything still sinks because the front flap has no rigidity. The quick access pocket has a similar struggle but on a smaller scale. I think this pocket could’ve been made less deep to better utilize the entire height of the pocket. Even when I put a lot of accessories inside of it, all of them just sink to the middle of the pack which 1) makes a large bulge and hinders packing in the main and/or laptop compartments, and 2) makes it hard to quickly grab what I need. The interior mesh pocket in the main compartment in particular is way deeper than it needs to be in my opinion. The downside of all of these pockets is everything sinks inside of them. For a work/office bag, however, I prefer more purpose-specific organization.

Don’t get me wrong, these pockets are individually great, and the plus side of being general purpose is that there are many ways to utilize them. The pockets I’m referring to are the quick access pockets and the interior zipper pockets. It is necessary to use one hand to constantly hold the bag up and provide tension for the zippers to operate when loading or retrieving anything (if the bag is on the floor). That makes it difficult to pack computing essentials quickly and with one hand. Doesn’t Stand On Its OwnĪs mentioned before, the bag does not stand on its own. There are, however, a handful of inconveniences that make it suboptimal for me as a go-to computing bag. I appreciate being able to access the laptop compartment from the side and top.
